Symposium 16:Environmental Lung Disease

Air pollution leads to major lethal diseases including stroke, ischemic heart disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and lung cancer. The combined effects of ambient air pollution and household air pollution is associated with 7 million premature deaths annually. Over the years, there have been raising public awareness of air pollution and increasing efforts to improve air quality. This symposium will focus on the current status of air pollution and efforts to improve air quality in the Asia-Pacific region, the interactions between air pollution and gut microbiota, and dealing with air pollution in a hospital setting.
